Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026

Karb Law (“we”, “us”) is a legal-services practice located at 10211 Yonge Street, Suite 205, Richmond Hill, Ontario. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information this website collects, why, who else can see it, and the choices you have. It is written to reflect how this site actually works.

The short version

  • We collect only what you send us through our forms or a payment.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — but no advertising pixels: there is no Meta/Facebook pixel and no ad-retargeting tracker on this site.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • Card numbers are handled by Stripe and never reach our server.

What we collect, and when

1. Consultation and contact forms

When you submit a contact or “request a consultation” form we receive the information you type: your name, email address, telephone number (if you provide one), your message, and which page you submitted the form from.

2. Free assessment form

The free assessment form is more detailed because it is used to assess eligibility for Canadian immigration. In addition to your name and email it may include your age, country of residence, occupation and years of experience, marital status, English and French language ability, highest level of education, whether you have family in Canada, whether you have previously been refused or denied entry to Canada, and whether you have a criminal record. You may also optionally upload documents such as a résumé, language test results, an education evaluation or other relevant paperwork.

Some of this is sensitive. Please send only what you are comfortable sharing, and see “Contacting us does not create a professional relationship” below before sending anything highly confidential.

3. Payments

If you pay an invoice on our payments page, we receive the name and email you enter and the amount paid, so we can apply the payment and send a receipt. Your card number, expiry and security code are entered directly into Stripe’s secure fields and are never sent to, stored on, or seen by our server. Stripe processes the payment as an independent service provider.

4. Technical information

Like virtually all websites, our web server keeps standard access logs (for example IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these to build advertising profiles.

5. Website analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use this website, so we can improve it. Analytics tells us things like which pages are viewed, how visitors arrived, approximate location (city/region, derived from IP address), and device and browser type. Google Analytics also automatically measures interactions such as scrolling, outbound clicks and file downloads.

We additionally record a small number of interaction events so we can see which pages actually generate enquiries:

  • Clicks on our phone number and email address — we record that a click happened and which page it happened on.
  • Starting and successfully submitting an enquiry form — we record that a submission succeeded and which type of form it was (consultation, contact or free assessment).
  • A completed payment — we record that a payment succeeded.

We do not send the contents of your forms to Google. These events carry no name, email address, telephone number, message text, uploaded document or payment detail — only the fact that the action occurred and the page it occurred on.

If you prefer not to be measured at all, you can install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics does not affect your ability to use the site, contact us, or pay an invoice.

Who else can see your information

We use a small number of established service providers, only as needed to run the site:

  • Google (Gmail/SMTP) — delivers form submissions to our office inbox.
  • Google Analytics — measures website usage, as described above.
  • Stripe — processes online payments.
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile) — the anti-spam check on our forms, to keep out automated abuse.
  • Google Maps — the map embedded on our contact page loads from Google when you view that page.
  • Our web host — stores the site and its data on a secured server.

These providers may process data outside Canada and are subject to the laws of the countries where they operate. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Cookies and tracking

Google Analytics sets cookies (or similar identifiers) so it can tell repeat visits from new ones and measure how the site is used. Stripe, Cloudflare Turnstile and the embedded Google Map may also set cookies that are necessary for payment processing, spam prevention and map functionality.

This site sets no advertising or retargeting cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.

How your information is protected

  • The entire site is served over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
  • Documents you upload are stored in a directory that is not publicly accessible — direct web requests to it are refused, and scripts cannot run there.
  • Configuration files containing credentials are blocked from being served.
  • Access to enquiries and documents is limited to Karb Law personnel who need it for your matter.

No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

Professional confidentiality

Karb Law is a licensed paralegal practice. Angelina Shuster is a paralegal licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and is bound by professional obligations of confidentiality with respect to client information. Where you become a client, your information is also protected by those professional duties, in addition to this policy.

Contacting us does not create a professional relationship

Sending a form, email or payment does not by itself create a paralegal–client relationship, and information sent before we formally agree to act for you may not be protected by professional privilege. Please do not send highly sensitive details about your matter until we have confirmed we can act for you.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and assessment submissions for as long as needed to respond and to provide services you ask for. Where we act on a legal matter, we retain the file for the period required by our professional obligations and applicable law. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or securely destroyed.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent to our use of your information, subject to legal and professional obligations;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.

Email legal@karblaw.com or call (416) 835-6989 and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where a matter concerns a child, information is normally provided by a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. The “last updated” date at the top of the page always shows the current version.
